It was summer time. Helen and I had just returned from a three day mini-vacation at the shore.

A few short yards from the water’s edge, on the third floor of our hotel, with the slide glass doors of our room open to the salty night air, the sounds of the night-time crashing of the waves against the shore is a wonderful tonic that anyone would enjoy.

A few weeks later Helen mentioned to me that she had an idea for a painting. “I want to see if I can paint the sound of the ocean waves.”

This painting seems to capture the action and the violence and the energy of the waves – the sound of the waves.
